Love Must be Sincere

Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.”– Romans 12: 9-10

I had an interesting conversation about love. To be sincere means to love someone free from expectation or deceit; proceeding from genuine feelings. To love anyone whether it’s family, friends, or someone whom you like, you must be genuine. That helping that person, understanding that person’s behaviors, and not judging them is the priority.

If you love someone there is little to no expectation of return. If love is sincere, it will always seek the good and to help that other person in any way they need. You must be utterly selfless to accept another person for their weak points, bad characteristics, and annoying traits.

All of us have bad days, weeks, and years. We all have intolerable aspects of us, but loving someone should bring that person joy, happiness, and lightness into their life. We will not be the same person tomorrow, in month, and in 5 years. Accepting change and to find beauty in another person’s wholeness is love. I spent a long time giving love to the wrong people, but if I express love now to anyone it because I sincerely want to just see you happy and at ease.
